Airpura V614 Air Purifier (Super HEPA Wildfire, Smoke & VOC Defense)
@ 0.3 microns
carbon bed
on high
The Airpura V614 is a wildfire smoke and VOC purifier. A Super HEPA 14 filter catches the fine smoke particles, and a deep bed of impregnated activated carbon takes out the burnt smell, VOCs, and gases that particle filters can't touch.
It's the same all-metal cabinet and carbon as the V600, with the particle filter upgraded for smoke season. It suits people who react to what they breathe: wildfire smoke, renovation off-gassing, fragrance intolerance, and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).
How the V614 Compares: V600 vs V614 vs V714
All three share the same 18 lb impregnated carbon, the same all-metal build, and the same Regular or Super Gas carbon choice. The V614 swaps the V600's True HEPA filter for Super HEPA, and the V714 pairs that same Super HEPA filter with a stronger motor for bigger spaces.

Choose the V614 when wildfire smoke is the main reason you're buying and your room is 2,000 sq ft or less. The V600 makes sense if smoke is occasional and True HEPA is enough for you. If the space opens out past 2,000 sq ft, the V714 is the better call.
Not sure the V-series fits? If your only concern is everyday odors and allergens, the Airpura R600 covers that for less. For heavy, persistent chemical exposure like industrial fumes, severe MCS, or strong solvents, look at the C600 DLX and its much larger carbon bed.
Coverage is based on two complete air exchanges per hour with 8-ft ceilings.
Is the Airpura V614 Right for You?
The V614 is for homes where smoke and chemicals get into the air, not just dust and pollen.
It's an especially strong fit if you:
✔ Live where wildfire smoke reaches your home most summers
✔ Want Super HEPA particle filtration for smoke season
✔ Are living with renovation off-gassing (new paint, flooring, cabinets, or furniture)
✔ Have chemical sensitivity (MCS) or fragrance intolerance
✔ Want both smoke-odor control and fine-particle capture in one unit
Great fit for:
✔ Large bedrooms and living rooms up to 2,000 sq ft
✔ Homes in wildfire-prone regions
✔ Newly renovated or newly furnished spaces
✔ Home offices where you spend the whole day
✔ Anyone who wants clean air that actually smells clean
What the Airpura V614 Removes
Chemical & Odor Control (Impregnated Carbon)
The V614 leads with a 2-inch, 18 lb bed of enhanced impregnated activated carbon. This layer handles the gases and smells a HEPA filter can't catch:
- Smoke odor, the lingering burnt smell from wildfire and tobacco smoke
- Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from paint, adhesives, flooring, and furniture
- Chemical fumes from cleaning products, pesticides, and household materials
- Off-gassing from new renovations, cabinetry, and carpeting
Super HEPA 14 Particle Filtration (99.99% @ 0.3 Microns)
Behind the carbon, a 40 sq ft Super HEPA 14 filter captures the fine particles that travel with smoke and everyday air:
- Fine smoke particles, including wildfire smoke
- Dust and everyday household particles
- Pollen and pet dander
- Mold spores and other airborne biologicals
What 99.99% means in practice: at 0.3 microns, the hardest particle size to catch, Super HEPA lets through a third as many particles as standard True HEPA (1 in 10,000 instead of 3 in 10,000).
Key Design Features
Super HEPA 14 Filter
40 sq ft of Super HEPA media rated at 99.99% at 0.3 microns, compared with 99.97% for the standard True HEPA filter.
Deep 2″ Impregnated Carbon Bed
18 lb of enhanced impregnated carbon in a 2-inch bed. The extra depth gives the air more contact time, so the carbon captures more chemicals and VOCs on each pass.
Pressure-Sealed Filter Chamber
A pressure seal and felt gaskets force incoming air through the filters instead of around them, which keeps the Super HEPA rating meaningful in real use.
All-Metal Housing
Powder-coated steel with felt (not rubber) gaskets. No plastic or rubber off-gassing, which matters most in a unit built for chemical sensitivity.
360° Air Intake
The perforated steel exterior draws air evenly from all sides for balanced circulation.
Separately Changeable Filters
The prefilter, carbon, and Super HEPA filters replace on their own schedules, so you only buy the one that's due.
Regular or Super Gas? Choosing Your V614 Carbon
Every V614 ships with a chemical-grade impregnated carbon bed. The choice comes down to how heavy a chemical load you're filtering. You just pick the one you need. Either way, the Super HEPA filter stays the same.
Regular V600 (Potassium Iodide Impregnated)
- 18 lb enhanced carbon, a blend of potassium iodide and coconut shell. The potassium iodide speeds up how quickly the carbon binds and removes chemicals
- Well-suited for wildfire smoke, off-gassing from furniture or renovations, and everyday chemical exposure
Super Gas 600 (Potassium Permanganate)
- 18 lb impregnated carbon, a blend of potassium permanganate and coconut shell, which grabs the lighter gases standard carbon is slower on
- A better fit for strong or persistent chemical odors, heavy renovation exposure, or multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS)
Maintenance & Filter Life
The V614 has three filters, each on its own schedule:
- Prefilter: vacuum through the grille once a month; replace every 12 months
- Carbon filter: replace every 2 years
- Super HEPA filter: replace every 3 to 5 years, depending on use
Running it 24/7 on low is the simplest way to keep air quality steady, then turn it up when smoke rolls in. Keep indoor humidity near 40%, since very humid air slows the carbon down.
It draws 40 watts on low and 120 watts on high, roughly a household light bulb.
Sound level is 28.1 dB on low at six feet and 62.3 dB on high.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I get the V614 or the V600?
They're the same machine with one difference: the particle filter. The V600 uses True HEPA (99.97% at 0.3 microns) and the V614 uses Super HEPA 14 (99.99%). If wildfire smoke is the main reason you're buying, the V614 is worth the extra spend. If smoke is rare where you live, the V600 gives you the same carbon for less.
Should I get the V614 or the V714?
It comes down to the size of your space. Both use the same Super HEPA filter and carbon. The V614 covers up to 2,000 sq ft, which fits most bedrooms and living rooms. The V714 adds a stronger 635 CFM motor for open floor plans and whole levels up to 2,500 sq ft.
Will the V614 actually clear wildfire smoke?
Yes, and it handles both parts of smoke. The Super HEPA filter captures the fine smoke particles, while the deep carbon bed adsorbs the burnt odor and VOCs a HEPA-only unit leaves behind. During a smoke event, close the windows and run it on a higher speed.
How is the V-series different from the R600 or the C-series?
All three use activated carbon, but the type and amount differ by job. The R600 is the everyday all-purpose unit for general odors and allergens. The V614 uses an impregnated carbon blend tuned for smoke, VOCs, and airborne chemicals. For the heaviest chemical exposure, like strong solvents, industrial fumes, or severe MCS, the C600 DLX has a much larger carbon bed.
Where do I get replacement filters?
Your V614 takes the same prefilter and carbon as the V600, so you'll find everything on our V600 replacement filters page. Choose the Complete Set + Super HEPA when it's time for a full change, so you keep the 99.99% rating.
Does the V614 arrive assembled?
Yes. The V614 ships as a single assembled unit on casters, with no tools required. Unpack it, plug it in, run it on max for 30 minutes, then set your speed. See the User Manual for setup details.
What does the warranty cover?
The V614 comes with a 5-year parts and 10-year labor warranty, which outlasts the first several sets of filters. The unit is also ETL certified to UL 507.
Is this a medical device?
No. The Airpura V614 is a residential and commercial air purifier for general indoor air quality. It's not a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition.
